When an activity is completed, the end date changes to the date the activity is closed. It would be helpful if there was a setting to disable the action (e.g. completing an activity does not impact the end date).

 

The main issue is this interferes with dependencies and can completely change the remaining dates in a project (e.g. if I complete an activity today (June 1) that was actually completed last week (May 25) , any dependent activities scheduled to start May 26 are now pushed ahead to start June 2). As you can imagine, this can significantly distort a project plan based on dependent activities.

 

Manually updating dates of up to 100+ activities and realigning dates of project plans to the proper dates every week will add significant time to managing the project and can result in an inaccurate plan if any of the 100+ activities are not re-aligned to the proper date.

 

I do understand the benefit of automatically updating the completion date to when the activity is marked complete and support keeping the option available, but this could be a barrier for project managers that do not manage the plan activities daily if there is no way to toggle the setting in the “Company Settings” menu.
