Checklist for Task

Would be nice if there was a simple option to create a Checklist for a Task (see below).
Each Checklist box that is marked as completed (Checked) would contribute toward the % Complete.

Currently, sub-tasks fulfill the objective of this idea: I Create a Task, then all the sub-tasks under the main task (which would be like the checklist you suggest). As you complete sub-tasks, the main task is updated.
But I can see the value in being able to do so with a specific task, especially when using custom forms to request something to be done-- one task with all the steps in a list would be faster to assign and respond to.

Having a checklist would reduce the number of Tasks to be created. We have some processes that have up to 20 checklist items . Creating and maintaining 20 tasks, even with a copy, requires too much time. We need a record of the items being checked off, usually by one person, for the Safety Committee.

This would be a terrific feature to have. I have used checklists in the past in another project management system, and it is very useful for those cases where you are checking off detailed items that need to be completed as part of a task (i.e. items that are part of a task and that don't have related time and/or dates per say). The checklist items can serve as a great reminder and kind of an audit trail as to ensuring the smallest details on a critical task gets taken care of.
