The top bar in Activity Center is called the action bar. It includes most important and frequently used features, such as Advanced filters and Customize.
A screenshot of the action bar is shown below.
Features
New Project button
The New Project button is used to add projects. It has a drop down section that opens a list of available templates on which you want to base your new project.
Project counter
The project counter indicates the number of projects available in the current view. Click the counter to quickly rearrange the list to show only projects as a collapsed list.
Activity counter
The counter indicates the total number of activities available in the current view. Click the counter to expand the list of projects in the current view so that all activities are visible.
Text search filter box
Use the search box to quickly find a required object, e.g. project, task, assignee, category, project status, etc. by which you want to filter Activity Center. The filter uses any combination of characters you have typed and returns a list of objects whose name contains the combination. For example, if you typed 'pe', it could return 'Open' (project status), 'Peter Hard' (activity assignee), 'Review local competition' (task).
Advanced filters button
The button is used to access the advanced filters. The advanced filters allows you to use a great number of parameters to locate the item or a group of items you would like to filter out in Activity Center. Examples could include (1) a particular project you would like to work with; (2) the complete list of projects with the 'Open' status; (3) all activities with 'Open' status' and 'Development' category'. The best thing about the filters is that you can combine them any way you like. To learn more, use the link above.
Customize button
Activity Center offers a wide range of customization options, from sorting lists in a variety of ways to adding custom columns. Customization is described in detail here.
Sorting method selector
There are many ways the list shown in a Activity Center view can be sorted. The default method is by WBS (Work Breakdown Structure). You can sort the list by activity or project attributes, which are presented as two columns. Simply select an item, e.g. Name, and the list will be re-sorted accordingly.
View selector
The current contents of Activity Center with selected filters applied, if any, is known as a view. You can save views for future use, and share them with other users. Refer to Views for details.
Save View As button
Use the button to save the current view. Once saved, the view can be retrieved, edited, shared, or deleted. See Views for details.
Flat/Hierarchical view mode buttons
Activity Center allows you to view projects and activities as a tree structure which uses the left margin to distinguish between activities of different levels. As a result, you can readily see which activity is parent and which is child. This presentation of activities is called hierarchical. In other cases you may wish to see a list of activities without their parent/child relation. This presentation is called flat.
Gantt View button
The button is used to open the interactive Gantt viewer. The viewer occupies the right hand half of the Activity Center screen but its width can be adjusted. Zoom is also available. The viewer is interactive in that you can edit objects by dragging and set/change dependencies. See Gantt view to learn more.
Export & Import
The button is used to open available options on export to/import from CSV and MS Project. See export- and import-related links below.
